Renewal by Andersen® of Denver’s sliding door systems are low-maintenance by design. They feature High-Performance™ Low-E4® glass, which has metal oxide coatings on the exterior pane. This multi-layer coating makes it easy to remove dirt on the surface, allows water to sheet off and minimizes water spotting by 99%.
The hardware of our sliding contemporary and French doors can come in Estate™ chrome, nickel and brass finishes. Thanks to their special coating, they are proof against tarnish and corrosion. Our bronze hardware finishes, on the other hand, develop a lovely patina with time and use.
Despite requiring very little upkeep, our sliding doors nevertheless need proper care to be functional and beautiful throughout their service lives.
Remove Loose Dirt
Before applying any cleaning agent, rid the glass of any loose filth first. Use a soft dry cloth instead of a razor blade to keep the glass of your patio doors smooth.
Avoid Abrasive Solutions
Renewal by Andersen of Denver advises against using cleaning solutions with harsh ingredients. We recommend a mixture of water and mild soap or white vinegar. Regular liquid window cleaners will work too.
Wash From Top to Bottom
For efficiency, wipe the glass in a circular motion and start from the top. This way, you won’t wet the dry cleaned areas as you wash your way to the bottom of the glass.
Dry Cleaned Areas Immediately
Wipe the soapy surfaces with a squeegee or a lint-free, clean cloth right after washing. Clean your squeegee after every swipe with a cloth.
To ensure the smooth operation of your sliding glass doors, get rid of any grime that accumulated on the bottom track with a vacuum. Once the loose dirt is gone, clean the area with alcohol.
Lubricate the Tracks
Use silicone spray as lubrication for the head track and wheels. This lubricant is ideal because it doesn’t attract dirt. For the bottom track, rubbing paraffin wax can produce better results than spraying silicone.
